Data Governance and MDM Leader (Leadership/Senior Architect Level)

Job Summary
We are looking for an industry thought leader to serve as the Data Governance and MDM Leader at a leadership and senior architect level. Reporting directly to the Director of Enterprise Architecture and Data, you will build and lead governance and MDM programs from the ground up. This role requires a strategic visionary who can leverage AI, foster strong stakeholder relationships, drive change management, and establish a robust semantic layer to ensure high data quality, security, and compliance with privacy standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, managing the full data lifecycle in collaboration with IT, business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, and technical teams.

  • Lead the development and maturation of the MDM program, ensuring high data quality, accurate master and reference data management, and effective metadata management.

  • Guide the newly formed data stewardship group to function effectively, fostering collaboration and defining roles and responsibilities within the governance framework.

  • Establish and advance the company’s semantic layer, creating a unified and accessible data structure to support business intelligence and analytics.

  • Leverage a new data governance tool to establish and scale the program, integrating AI solutions to enhance efficiency and deliver transformative insights.

  • Drive change management initiatives, building strong relationships with IT, business, legal, and security teams to align stakeholders on governance and MDM goals.

  • Collaborate closely with the enterprise architecture group, enterprise data architect, and other IT and business leaders to ensure the data strategy supports company-wide objectives.

  • Act as an industry thought leader, defining a strategic vision for governance, MDM, and the semantic layer that aligns with the company’s maturity level and future aspirations.

  • Partner with legal and security teams to ensure robust data security and compliance with data privacy regulations.


Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in data governance, MDM, and metadata management, with a proven track record of building programs from the ground up at a leadership and senior architect level.

  • Deep expertise in data lakehouse architectures, data quality, master and reference data management, and semantic layer development.

  • Recognized as an industry thought leader in data governance and MDM, with a forward-thinking approach to leveraging AI for innovative data solutions.

  • Exceptional relationship-building and change management skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including IT, business, legal, and security teams.

  • Proven ability to guide and develop data stewardship groups to ensure effective collaboration and execution of governance responsibilities.

  • Passion for AI and its applications in governance, with a commitment to driving innovation beyond traditional methods.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate and execute a strategic vision for governance, MDM, and semantic layer advancement.

  • Ability to work on-site in Indianapolis, IN to foster collaboration with the enterprise architecture team and key stakeholders.

Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Director of Enterprise Architecture and Data. No direct reports initially, with the potential to build a team as the program develops.
